Made In America Benefit Raises Big Bucks

Proving that jazz truly does have the power to heal, the Made In America benefit concert, featuring a group of musicians including Joe Lovano, Brad Mehldau, Terence Blanchard, Joshua Redman, Dianne Reeves, Bela Fleck, John Scofield, and Cassandra Wilson raised $260,000 to support the relief effort in New York City.

The event, held Dec. 5 at New York’s Town Hall, was organized by Jazz Alliance International, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to expanding jazz’s audience. The money raised will go to the Robin Hood Foundation, a New York City-based organization that fights poverty through investment and charitable giving and is playing a major role in helping victims of the Sept. 11 attacks.
