Luther Allison: Hand me Down My Moonshine

The late Luther Allison deals strictly on the acoustic side on Hand Me Down My Moonshine (Ruf 51416 1413 2; 68:49). Recorded on a DAT machine in his living room when he was living in Paris, France, Allison is accompanied by acoustic bass guitarist Zox on ten traditional tracks. Patrick Verbeke guests on National Steel guitar on “You’re the One” and Luther’s own son Bernard Allison offers some slide call-and-response on the album’s passionate closer, “Meet Me In My Own Hometown.”
