Lil’ Ed Williams/Dave Weld: Keep On Walkin’

Slide guitarist Lil’ Ed Williams joins together with guitarist Dave Weld on Keep On Walkin’ (Earwig, 59:27). While half of the tunes here feature a full band on energized shuffles like J.B. Hutto’s “Combination Boogie” and “Set My Sights On You,” the most affecting work here is done in the stripped down setting of two acoustic guitars, as on Elmore James’ “New Year’s Resolution” and “North Carolina Bound.” Lil’ Ed flaunts his usual raucous slide chops and field holler vocals.
