Kurt Elling to Tour in April

In April vocalist, fine art collector and soul-patch bearer Kurt Elling will take his trio out on the road for an all-too-short tour in the U.S. Just five cities. If you’re desperately in need of entertainment by way of Elling’s inimitable croon, live and in person, snatch your seats on the quick-he is a popular man.

The trio backing Elling on tour will be his longstanding group with Laurence Hobgood on piano, Rob Amster on bass and Frank Parker on drums, all of whom played on the singer’s most recent CD, Man in the Air, on Blue Note. The album showcased a number of well-known tunes by folks like John Coltrane, Joe Zawinul and Herbie Hancock, with new lyrics penned by Elling. The album cover showcased “Tangerine,” a painting by Chicago artist Wesley Kimler that Elling owns.
