For those of you who can’t get enough of the eccentric vocalist, the Japanese pressing of Kurt Elling’s forthcoming Nightmoves will contain a bonus track of his version of Cole Porter’s “Well Did You Evah?” The track-which first appeared in High Society in 1956 (and sung by Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby)-pairs Elling with guitarist John Pizzarelli and features updated lyrics by Elling. It will also be available on iTunes for those that do not want to purchase the Japanese import.
Elling is also making two more bonus tracks available on iTunes: a studio recording of “Luiza” and a live rendition of “Body & Soul,” recorded in Amsterdam. These tracks will be included on the disc’s European pressing.
Known for his wide-ranging style-the vocalist combines poetry readings with hard-bop scatting and art songs-Elling’s Nightmoves is his seventh official release (and sixth studio recording). It will be issued by Concord on April 13.
