“Deck the halls with boughs of Koz” is my summer mantra as I prepare for the holiday season. Yes, I am worse than your average department store in my early prep for Christmas, but smooth-jazz saxophonist Dave Koz has probably got me beat.
Koz and his people have just announced the dates for his sixth annual “A Smooth Jazz Christmas Tour,” which again features smooth-jazz pals like David Benoit, Rick Braun, Brenda Russell and Peter White. “I am so excited to have everyone back from last year,” Koz says. “We will do some new stuff and bring back some old favorites as well. With the show now in it’s sixth year, we have become some sort of a family and I really like it. We just go ahead and do it and have a good time.”
Dave Koz & Friends’ A Smooth Jazz Christmas CD, which featured Benoit, Braun, Russell, White and Kenny Loggins earned him a Grammy nomination for “Best Pop Instrumental Album.” Meanwhile, the Koz continues as the morning host for Los Angeles’ KTWV (The Wave), perhaps the leading smooth jazz radio stations in the United States, as well as continuing The Dave Koz Radio Show, which is syndicated to over 100 U.S. and international affiliates.
