KoSA Workshops Scheduled for August

From August 4-10, drummer/percussionists from all over the world and from all genres of music will congregate at Castle State College in Castleton, Vt. for the eighth edition of the KoSA International Percussion Workshops and Festival. All drumming styles are represented and taught by the faculty, in small daily classes, master classes, and performance recitals. Class participants, as well as the general public, can go to nightly concerts put on by faculty members.

This year’s KoSA faculty will include: Horacio Hernandez (Santana), Will Calhoun (Living Color), Bobby Sanabria (Latin artist), James Campbell (University.of Kentucky), Aldo Mazza (Repercussion), Glen Velez (Paul Winter Consort), Jim Chapin (Author), John Riley (Miles Davis), Anders Astrand (Mallets, Sweden), Kevan Mackenzie (James Taylor), Dom Famularo (International Clinician), Evaristo Aguilar (Mexico drum set), Russ Miller (Ray Charles) Louis Charbonneau (timpani, Montreal Symphony) Marco Lienhard (Taiko, Ondekoza), Sandip Burman (Tabla, Bela Fleck), Gordon Gottlieb, (Steely Dan), Jeff Salisbury (Johnson State College), Memo Acevedo (Tito Puente), Lou Robinson (Didgeridoo Soloist), Rick Van Horn, (Modern Drummer), Répercussion (Aldo Mazza, Chantal Simard, Robert Lépine, and Luc Langlois), Mario DeCuitiis (Radio City, NYC), Allan Molnar (Educator/MIDI Specialist), and the KoSA rhythm section: Oscar Stagnaro (Paquito D’Rivera) on bass, Alon Yavnai (Paquito D’Rivera) and Aldo Mazza, artistic director, on piano.
