Kelly Wright: Singer, Teletubby

You know you’ve always wanted to hear a Teletubby’s take on a tune like “What Is This Thing Called Love?” You haven’t? Well, we haven’t either. We swear. Nevertheless, anybody who has gets that wish granted on Tuesday, when singer Kelly Wright’s No Secret Anymore is released, from here to Teletubbyland.

You don’t follow? In addition to singing in shows and on record, the Seattle-based Wright lends her voice to commercials, video games and talking children’s toys. That’s Wright’s voice inside the electronic Microsoft Actimate Laa-Laa the Teletubby doll, a toy based on one of the scary/cute characters from the hit children’s series on PBS.

Laa-laa (the yellow one) is arguably the most playful Teletubby of the four. Fitting for a singer who chose to pepper her album with fun musical fare “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea” and “Peel Me a Grape.” On No Secret Anymore Wright is backed by a swinging big band on eleven, highly musical tunes, each produced by fellow Seattleite and singer Lisa Koch. A track list follows. To sample some of the album’s tracks, or to check out some of Wright’s voice-over work, visit www.kellywright.com.
