Join the Party

Action Figure Party, an all-star jazz-rock outfit masterminded by multi-instrumentalist Greg Kurstin (co-founder of the rock band Geggy Tah), showcases its music online with an interactive game. The game, Roller Derby Madness, combines music from Action Figure Party’s self-titled debut (featuring Flea, Sean Lennon and others) with the adventures of a torch-wielding brute on skates. The object is to rack up points torching your opponents and clear the way to the finish line, all the while picking up martinis for extra energy. Sounds like fun.

Blue Thumb Records released Action Figure Party on May 22 and despite the group’s lineup of alternative rock’s finest studio musicians, the album is a mix of funk grooves and pop jazz numbers with the occasional vocal burst from Kurstin. The launch of Roller Derby Madness marks the first time the label has created an interactive game to promote a record. To play the game, visit www.vervemusicgroup.com
