Join the Cuban Revolution on February 27

Ever since Ry Cooder introduced the world to the Buena Vista Social Club, folks have become wildly interested in Cuban music. Blue Thumb Records will capitalize on the new-found interest in Cuban culture with the release of Before Night Falls, a film soundtrack featuring artists from several decades of Cuban music.

The CD collects music from Cuba’s pre- and post-revolutionary periods with tracks from Trio Matamoros, Cuban big band Sonora Matancera and the Cuban double entendre king, Faustino Oramas. The CD also includes songs from Carter Burwell, who has scored every Coen Brothers film (Fargo, Raising Arizona, etc…).

Before Night Falls won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2000 Venice Film Festival. Directed and co-written by Julian Schnabel, the film is a journey into the life and writings of Cuban author and exile Reinaldo Arenas. The Cuban-flavored soundtrack will be available in stores on February 27th, 2001.
