John Koerner/Dave Ray/Tony Glover: The Return of Koerner, Ray & Glover

Folk blues is the focus on The Return of Koerner, Ray & Glover (Red House 131; 43:15). The third and final group album of the rowdy folk blues trio from Minneapolis comprised of 7-string guitarist-vocalist “Spider” John Koerner, 12-string-guitarist-vocalist Dave “Snaker” Ray and harmonica ace Tony “Little Sun” Glover, it was recorded in July of 1965 and originally released by Elektra. Clearly inspired by the likes of Leadbelly, Blind Willie McTell and Blind Lemon Jefferson, these three lads brought a raucous, personalist touch to their Delta stylings. A quintessential white boy blues album that helped fuel the ’60s blues boom.
