Joanne Brackeen at Harvard

On Dec. 14, onetime Grammy nominee and pianist/composer Joanne Brackeen will guest with the Harvard Jazz Band for a concert at the university’s Lowell Hall. The concert, which will feature tunes by both Brackeen and composers associated with her, will be the final event in three days of Brackeen fun celebrating her appointment as Harvard’s Artist In Residence. Two days prior, on Dec. 12, the pianist will host free a master class with Harvard student musicians (also in Lowell Hall)—neither tickets nor reservations are required. And on Dec. 13, Ingrid Monson, Harvard’s Quincy Jones Professor of African-American Music, will moderate a conversation with Joanne Brackeen in Reid Tonkens Room, Winthrop Hall. The conversation is free as well, and open to the general public.

For tickets to the concert ($10/$5 students and seniors), call (617) 496-2222. For more information about all things Harvard and Brackeen, call (617) 495-8676 or visit www.fas.harvard.edu/~ofa.

Happy Thanksgiving, by the way.
