German jazztronica outfit Jazzanova recently signed to the New York-based Ropeadope, a label gaining steam due in part to its hip roster and in part to its many records with John Medeski on the personnel list. Jazzanova’s first full-length for Ropeadope will be In Between, an album originally planned for release on the band’s own Jazzanova Compost Records. The album will come out in July.
Ropeadope CEO Andy Hurwitz is excited to have Jazzanova on board, saying “I fell in love with [Jazzanova’s] record and I’m still lost in it. For us, there’s no better representation of who we are as a label than Jazzanova. I come from a Jazz background (Knitting Factory, Columbia Jazz) with a passion for electronic music and DJ culture. Jazzanova is just that. I truly believe they are the future and we’re truly honored to be associated with them.”
