The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County has announced the return of Jazz Roots, a series produced by the Center and record/television producer Larry Rosen. The debut 2008-2009 series has drawn more than 10,000 jazz fans to five sell-out performances. The new season begins in November and runs through April 2010. Scheduled performers include blues guitar legend Buddy Guy on November 6, 2009; pianist and composer Dave Grusin with Jon Secada, Arturo Sandoval, Nestor Torres and Mancini Institute Orchestra on December 4; vocal artists the Manhattan Transfer, the New York Voices, and Jon Hendricks on January 15, 2010; an homage to Black History Month and tribute to soul music featuring singer Al Jarreau and pianist Ramsey Lewis on February 26; a tribute to Frank Sinatra highlighting the voice of Michael Feinstein and balladeer John Pizzarelli on March 19; and Latin jazz pianists Eddie Palmieri and Michael Camilo on April 16.
