Jazz Masters Captured by Wolff

On exhibit now at the Sheldon History of Jazz Gallery in St. Louis, Missouri is a large collection of photographs taken by Francis Wolff during his Blue Note Records period. These candid photographs capture jazz giants John Coltrane, Horace Silver, Miles Davis, Jimmy Smith, Clifford Brown, Art Blakey, Lou Donaldson and Grant Green during their own Blue Note periods. From 1941 to 1965, Wolff took thousands of photographs during the rehearsals and recording sessions that made Blue Note Records a super-power jazz label. The exhibit runs through February 5th, 2001 and is co-presented by Mosaic Records.
