‘Jazz Journal International’ Ceases Publication

The U.K.-based traditional jazz publication Jazz Journal International is calling it quits after nearly 63 years. Publisher Eddie Cook, in a letter to subscribers, cited the recent death of his wife Janet as the primary reason. JJI, which called itself “The World’s Greatest Jazz Magazine,” was published nonstop since 1948. The February 2009 issue will be its last, although Cook left open the possibility of the magazine continuing if a buyer should come forth to take it over.
