A concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center will celebrate the induction of jazz guitar legends Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian (pictured) into the Nesuhi Ertegun Jazz Hall of Fame. The concert, which takes place May 2-3 at the Rose Theater at Frederick P. Rose Hall, Broadway at 60th St. in New York, will feature the music of the two masters performed by guitarists Bobby Broom, Biréli Lagréne, Russell Malone and Frank Vignola, with a rhythm section of drummer/music director Lewis Nash and Frank Wess on flute and tenor saxophone.
A free pre-concert lecture with Lewis Nash, along with other performers and Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Manager of Public Programming Ken Druker, will discuss the music in the Irene Diamond Education Center at 7 p.m.
