Jazz at Lincoln Center Now Offering Educational Videos Online

Not everyone can make it to New York to learn a thing or two from Jazz at Lincoln Center. But thanks to a partnership between JALC and Veotag, Inc., anyone with a computer can now experience JALC’s educational events online.

The initiative, titled Education Events Online, will feature a selection of videos accessible to all. Aided by a table of contents, viewers can pick and choose which videos they would like to watch.

The five videos now available include Master Class with Gerard Wilson and the Julliard Jazz Ensemble, led by composer Wilson; Cultural Bankruptcy: Investing in Arts Education, with Wynton Marsalis addressing the National Press Club (55 minutes); Jazz Talk: Walkin’ and Swingin’: Mary Lou Williams (an exploration of the impact of pianist, arranger and jazz educator Mary Lou Williams, with special guests Dr. Tammy Kernodle, Mulgrew Miller, and Father Peter O’Brien, S.J., 69 minutes); Jazz 101: Bebop Overview with JALC curator Phil Schaap (123 minutes); and Trombone Master Class: Two Sides of the Slide, with trombonists Joseph Alessi and Wycliffe Gordon (pictured, 171 minutes). Offerings will be updated throughout the year.

To watch the videos, visit Jazz at Lincoln Center.
