Jazz Alley TV Travels Globe for Summer Programming

Jazz Alley TV traveled the world for a new series of musical programs airing on BET On Jazz this summer.

The series begins in Morocco with a documentary on pianist Keiko Matsui’s (pictured left) travels throughout the countryside and her performance at the First Annual Casablanca Jazz Festival. Other festival performers featured in the documentary are Ahmad Jamal, Manu Dibango and Tania Maria. The film also captures a bit of local color with footage from an Arabic Festival featuring traditional Moroccan music and culture.

On the other side of globe, filmmaker Ken Burgmaier covered the 10th Annual Waiheke Island of Jazz Festival in New Zealand for a documentary about the festival, the local music scene and New Zealand arts and culture.

Back in the states, Jazz Alley TV taped a performance by Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band in Hollywood before filming the Doheny Blues Festival at Dana point in Southern California.

The new programs will air every Thursday this summer on the BET On Jazz network.
