Jason Moran Interviewed by Gary Giddins Tomorrow Night at CUNY

For those lucky enough to live in or near that jazz Disneyland called Manhattan, renowned critic and JT columnist Gary Giddins will interview pianist Jason Moran (pictured) tomorrow night, Oct. 10, at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (365 Fifth Ave., between 35th & 36th Streets). The interview will take place in the Elebash Recital Hall, and the 90-minute program is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m.

The title of the conversation is “Monk at 90,” and in honor of Thelonious Monk’s 90th birthday (the late pianist-composer was born Oct. 17, 1917), the pair will discuss Monk’s legacy as well as Moran’s upcoming commission, “IN MY MIND: Monk at Town Hall 1959.”
