Janice Borla Brings Vocal Jazz Camp to Illinois

North Central College in Illinois will host the 19th annual Janice Borla Vocal Jazz Camp and the “Hot Jazz-6 Cool Nites” concert series from July 20-27, 2007.

The internationally recognized camp is open to anyone 14 years of age or older (that means adult, too). In conjunction with the camp, the “Hot Jazz” performances feature camp faculty-artists and are open to the public.

This year’s lineup includes Theo Bleckmann, Judy Niemack and camp founder Janice Borla. All three are acclaimed jazz vocalists currently teaching as professors at universities worldwide.

In addition to the aforementioned performers, jazz trumpeter Art Davis (formerly with the Ray Charles Orchestra) will join the camp staff. The In-Residence Rhythm Section for the summer 2007 camp will be comprised of pianist Dan Haerle, bassist Bob Bowman and drummer Jack Mouse. Belgian guitarist Jeanfrancois Prins will return to join the new rhythm section.

For more information on the camp or ticketing for the concert series, visit the Janice Borla Vocal Jazz Camp website.
