James Harman: Mo’ Na’kins Please!

Fellow California blues harpist James Harman collaborated with some of the same players as Clarke did in the mid-1980s. His Mo’ Na’kins, Please!, culled from sessions recorded from 1984 to 1987, features more six-string slickness from guitar hotshots Hollywood Fats and Junior Watson. Kid Ramos is also featured prominently throughout alongside pianist Gene Taylor, former Canned Heat bassist Larry Taylor and drummer Stephen Hodges. A powerhouse blues harpist and mighty soulful singer, Harman is still very much on top of his game 15 years later. But these early sessions from the vaults capture a special rawness and jump blues rowdiness that is positively infectious.
