JALC Opens Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola

On October 21, 2004, Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) proudly opens the doors of its new jazz club, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola. The club, located in JALC’s new home at Frederick P. Rose Hall (FPRH), just released its inaugural season’s schedule, which includes performances by Bill Charlap (pictured), Joey DeFrancesco and Eric Reed, among many others.

Below is a complete schedule of shows at the club through Jan. 30, 2005. The club’s featured artist sets are 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. every day of the week, plus 11 p.m. sets every Friday and Saturday. There will be an 11 p.m. late-night jam session Tuesday through Thursday, and late-night jams will also occur after the last artist set every Friday and Saturday. On Monday nights both up-and-coming and veteran musicians will play on the bandstand for the Jazz Stars of Tomorrow sets, providing performance opportunities for jazz bands from area colleges, including the Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, the New School and Queens College.

Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, one of the three main performance spaces inside FPRH, is an intimate, 140-seat jazz club that provides a space for ensemble performances, education, and other events. The club also has a dinner menu by New York culinary creators Great Performances and Spoonbread Inc.
