JALC Offers Classes For Kids

Children – especially preschoolers – have more energy at any given moment than most of us could muster in a day. Perhaps this is the reason Jazz at the Lincoln Center (JALC) is continuing WeBop!, a series of music education classes for two-five year olds. The program gives children and their parents or caretakers the chance to sing, move and play with the soulful rhythms and melodies that jazz is known for. The children are divided into three age groups: Stompers (ages two-three), Syncopators (ages four-five) and Gumbo Group (ages two-five).

WeBop! is produced in collaboration between JALC and the Early Childhood Music Education at the Teachers College at Columbia University. The next session will run from Jan. 11 through March 5, with classes on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Classes are held at JALC and registration is $300 per child for the entire term or $35 for a single class. Reservations can be made by calling Subscription Services at (212) 258-9999.
