JALC Hosts Women in Jazz Festival

Mmmm pop and jazz… To celebrate this quintessential combination, Diet Coke and Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) have teamed together to create the inaugural Diet Coke Women in Jazz Festival from Sept. 6 through Oct. 2. The festival, which will be held at JALC’s Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, is billed as “a celebration of the great contributions women performers have made to jazz music.”

The Women in Jazz Festival is part of JALC’s 2005-2006 programming season, “Jazz from Coast to Coast,” and will feature nightly performances by established and up-and-coming female jazz artists. Coca-Cola (the company, not the club) will underwrite tickets for the International Association for Jazz Educators’ “Sisters in Jazz” Upstarts! Nightly performance on Sept. 26 for distribution to local high school music students.
