Jaco Pastorius to be Discussed at First Annual Jazz Improv LIVE! Convention and Festival

Bass virtuoso Jaco Pastorius, who first made his mark on the jazz world with the fusion group Weather Report, will be the topic of a panel discussion at this year’s First Annual Jazz Improve LIVE! Convention and Festival.

Held this Friday, Oct. 25, through Monday, Oct. 28, the convention will feature a discussion called “Jaco Pastorius: His Life and Music” on Saturday, Oct. 26. The panel, which will be moderated by Bill Milkowski, author of JACO: The Extraordinary and Tragic Life of Jaco Pastorius, will also feature bassist Mark Egan and Bob Bobbing, a childhood friend of Pastorius.

Aside from the panel on Pastorius, the convention will also feature over 80 panels and workshops, over 450 jazz musicians in 100 performances and a 15,000 square-foot jazz expo and shopping mall. To register to attend or learn more about the convention, visit
