Bass virtuoso Jaco Pastorius, who first made his mark on the jazz world with the fusion group Weather Report, will be the topic of a panel discussion at this year’s First Annual Jazz Improve LIVE! Convention and Festival.
Held this Friday, Oct. 25, through Monday, Oct. 28, the convention will feature a discussion called “Jaco Pastorius: His Life and Music” on Saturday, Oct. 26. The panel, which will be moderated by Bill Milkowski, author of JACO: The Extraordinary and Tragic Life of Jaco Pastorius, will also feature bassist Mark Egan and Bob Bobbing, a childhood friend of Pastorius.
Aside from the panel on Pastorius, the convention will also feature over 80 panels and workshops, over 450 jazz musicians in 100 performances and a 15,000 square-foot jazz expo and shopping mall. To register to attend or learn more about the convention, visit jazzimprov.com/live.
