Bob Dorough (pictured left) once made music for you on Saturday mornings, on the series that serenaded us all with scholarly topics, Schoolhouse Rock. Beginning Nov. 25, he’ll be making music for you on Sunday mornings, at least if you show up at New York City’s Iridium club from 11:30 am to 3 pm for their new Sunday jazz brunches.
While Schoolhouse Rock is certainly the most famous of Dorough’s accomplishments, his 77 years have brought him quite a long and productive career, most of it outside the spotlight. Recently, he began making records for Blue Note, which has brought him wider renown; one of them, Too Much Coffee Man, seems especially appropriate for this new gig.
The brunch, meanwhile features “classic American brunch items” and costs $16.95, including tea or coffee, and, of course, music. For more information or to make reservations, call 212-582-2121 or visit www.iridiumjazzclub.com.
