New York City’s Riverside Church is hosting Arturo Sandoval, Jon Faddis, Nicholas Payton and others for “Jazz Rhythms, New Visions: A Tribute to Jazz Legend Clark Terry,” benefiting the Riverside Youth Jazz Scholarship Project on Tuesday, April 23 at 8:00 p.m., in the Theatre of the Riverside Church, 91 Claremont Ave. (between 120th and 122nd St.), Morningside Heights.
Actor/writer Ossie Davis will serve as emcee for the benefit concert and tribute, which will feature performances from Arturo Sandoval, Jon Faddis, Nicholas Payton, Diane Reeves, Marion McPartland, Jimmy Owens, Danny Moore, Warren Vache and Randy Brecker. A champagne reception with the artists follows the event. Funds raised from the concert will benefit the Riverside Youth Jazz Scholarship Project, which seeks out talented youth in need of financial assistance in their pursuit of jazz studies and provides support for group and/or private lessons, instrument acquisition and performance opportunities.
