Fourplay Sign to Bluebird

After eleven fruitful years with Warner Bros., smooth-jazz hit-makers Fourplay have left the label and flocked to RCA Victor’s recently resurrected Bluebird label. Band members Bob James (keyboards), Nathan East (bass), Harvey Mason (drums) and Larry Carlton (guitar) are currently in the studio recording their first album for the label to be released this summer.

The execs at RCA Victor are of course excited to have the lucrative super-group on their Bluebird roster, which also includes trumpeters Dave Douglas and Tom Harrell. “Fourplay are a musical franchise and global market leaders who we are delighted to welcome to the Bluebird family,” commented Executive Vice President and General Manager of RCA Victor David Weyner, dollar signs ablaze in his eyes. “Everyone at BMG and RCA Victor Group look forward to a long creative and commercial future with our friends in Fourplay.”
