The fifth annual Panama Jazz Festival will not only merge American and Panamanian jazz, but will also bring together artists such as the Stanley Jordan Trio, Dave Samuels and the Caribbean Jazz Project, the Catherine Russell Group and the Tia Fuller Quartet. The festival, which is presented in part by the Danilo Pérez Foundation (Pérez, pictured), will take place Jan. 21 to 26 in Panama City, Panama.
The festival will include a variety of special events, such as a formal Gala Concert at the National Theater on Jan. 23 and a special family concert by Panamanian children at the Las Huacas theater at the ATLAPA Convention Center on Jan. 26. An all-day, free concert will also be held Jan. 26.
The festival will also include a heavy educational aspect, from Jan. 21 to 25. A variety of clinics will be held by the New England Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, Puerto Rico Conservatory and other institutions and hosted in the ATLAPA Convention Center.
