Continuing their 20-bit, remaster series to include classic recording dates by Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans, Chet Baker and others, Fantasy Jazz will release five reissues from the Riversie and Contemporary label catalogs next Tuesday, Oct.15. The CDs should sound super good on your hi-fi, as the music has been filtered through the JVC-developed K2 Super Coding process, which eliminates time-base jitter, yet preserves the integrity of low-level information. Too much jargon? Basically it’ll be like Monk is in the room, grunting right there in front of you. The discs:
Thelonious Monk Quartet: Misterioso Monk with Johnny Griffin, Ahmed
Abdul-Malik, Roy Haynes, recorded live at the Five Spot in summer 1957. Chet Baker: Chet Baker Sings: It Could Happen to You A 1958 quartet album featuring
