Eric Dolphy Film to Be Released on DVD

Jazz Lines Distribution has announced the long-awaited DVD release of Eric Dolphy: Last Date. The 1992 movie, originally available only on VHS, chronicles the life of the saxophonist/ clarinetist/flutist who revolutionized the concept of woodwinds and lead instruements.

The focal point of the film is Dolphy’s legendary final recording session in Hilversum, Holland on June 2, 1964 and his contribution to jazz is explored through interviews with musicians, film footage and archival photographs. Additional bonus DVD materials include additional photographs, a discography and an interview with filmmaker Hanks Hylkema.
