Downtown NYC goes to Washington, D.C. this weekend, when Spontaneous Infinity: A Celebration of Improvised Music continues at the Velvet Lounge on Friday, March 28, and Saturday, March 29.
Friday night’s lineup features a variety of renowned improvisers and avant-gardists beginning at 8:30 p.m. and climaxing at 12:30 a.m. with a set by the legendary maverick guitarist Elliott Sharp.
Saturday’s five-act program includes a special solo set by pianist Uri Caine (pictured) at 9:30 p.m.
The Velvet Lounge is located at 915 U Street, Washington, D.C., near Nightclub 9:30 and accessible via the U-St./Cardozo Metro stop. Tickets to each night cost $15 and are available at the door.
