Eddie Palmieri Comes to the Kennedy Center

On December 7, Eddie Palmieri will bring his mastery of Latin jazz to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. He’ll be performing at the Terrace Theatre as part of the Art Tatum Piano Panorama, and he will illuminate many sections of the pianistic proscenium: salsa, piano, bomba, son muntumo, and even straight-up jazz. There will be two shows, at 7:30 and 9:30, so you can buy two tickets and rock the crazy Latin rhythms all through the night. It’s enough to make you wish the Kennedy Center did this more often.

Palmieri is one of the acknowledged masters of Latin jazz, both as a bandleader and as a pianist; his career has spanned over 40 years thus far, he has released more than 32 records, and he has received seven (count ’em, seven) Grammy Awards, including the inaugural award in the Best Latin Album category in 1975.

Tickets are $27 for each show. For information and tickets, call (202) 467-4600 or (800) 444-1324, or visit www.kennedycenter.org.
