Trumpeter Eddie Henderson has found a new home with Sirocco Jazz Limited of Manchester, England. The label debut of the Eddie Henderson Quintet is due out in September.
The California-born trumpeter worked with artists such as Herbie Hancock, Pharoah Sanders, and Art Blakey in the 1970s before focusing on his career as a leader, making records for Blue Note and Capitol. In the ’80s Henderson dropped out of the scene to work as a psychiatrist. He returned to music in the ’90s, however, recording over a half-dozen albums for labels like Milestone and SteepleChase. In the past few years, Henderson has recorded with T.K. Blue, Billy Harper, and Kenny Barron.
