JazzTimes‘ resident fashionista Russell Carlson recently discovered something incredible during a weekend expedition to the Big Apple. While scouring the boutiques of Lower Manhattan in search of a rare South American textile, Mr. Carlson stumbled into SoHo’s überhip UNIQLO, where he found a series of T-shirts featuring images of classic ECM album covers.
The storefront for the Japanese brand, located at 546 Broadway, offers screen-printed tees of covers like Keith Jarrett’s Up For It: Live in Juan-Les-Pins (pictured), Chick Corea’s Piano Improvisations recordings and Terje Rypdal’s After the Rain. Affordably priced at around $15, these tees let the world know you’re down with Manfred Eicher’s artful, ambient production style and discerning roster of international artists.
