This Presidents’ Day weekend, the Fish Middleton Jazz Scholarship Fund will present the 15th annual East Coast Jazz Festival in Rockville, Md. The five-day marathon of jazz music and education will include events such as a kids’ concert, a senior citizens’ appreciation concert, a scholarship competition, five main stage shows and a farewell jam session.
The festival, sponsored in part by JazzTimes begins tomorrow and all events will take place under one roof, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Rockville. In addition to the concerts, many of which are free, there will also be dance ensembles and an exhibition hall.
Some of the main stage performers include Ron Elliston, the U.S. Army Blues Band, the U.S. Navy Commodores, David “Fathead” Newman (pictured), Junior Mance and Dick Morgan. Main stage shows are priced at $75 or $250 for a package of all five.
