Doctor Jazz’s Universal Remedy: Release 1.0

Jazz goes to the dance club on Doctor Jazz’s Universal Remedy’s Release 1.0 (Kriztal), wherein the Italian electronica outfit layers jazzy elements over various dance-floor grooves. The swinging, horn-driven “Milt Shake”-presumably a nod to legendary vibraphonist Milt Jackson-features shimmering vibraphone accents, while “First Man Then Machine” combines jazzy guitar and a house beat. “Elizabeat”‘s dance rhythm is overlaid by jumpy keyboard beats and wailing sax, and a funky groove powers retro keyboards, horns and singer Miss Loulou’s vocals on “Fusion in Fusion.” The album offers four bonus tracks, three of which are inventive remix versions of two of the tracks on the album. The tunes on Release 1.0 are designed for clubs, so they may not appeal to listeners who prefer more melodic compositions, but this is a nice example of jazz-electronica fusion.
