The American Society of Young Musicians will honor singer/pianist Diane Schuur and other musical artists on October 20th at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Also receiving awards at this first annual event will be B.B. King, Justin Timberlake, Wayne Newton and War.
“The organization of over 1200 members has selected Diane Schuur to be the recipient of the All That Jazz Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the jazz arena and the world of music,” says Jarvee Hutcherson, National President of the American Society for Young Musicians, in a press release. “Her longevity and showmanship combined with her active support of young musicians make her an ideal candidate for the Society’s recognition. We’re thrilled she will be able to participate in this first annual ‘Live in Las Vegas’ event.”
Schuur released her latest album, Some Other Time (Concord Jazz), in February. It marked a return to her jazz roots, the music of her parents’ generation, which includes some of the earliest and most enduring music in her creative consciousness.
The event is sponsored by the Las Vegas Chapter of the ASYM. For more details on visit ASY Musicians.
