After finishing a nationwide tour in support of her new album, The Girl in the Other Room, Diana Krall only pauses for a moment to breathe before performing again. But this time her performance is more personal that usual.
Krall will perform at an intimate benefit for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) on September 11 at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco, Calif. Her performance will inaugurate the establishment of the MMRF Krall Family Fund, a partnership conceived by Krall and her sister Michelle Wigmore in honor of their mother Adella Krall, who died from the incurable blood cancer in 2002. The foundation aims not only to raise funds to support myeloma research, but also to raise public awareness of the disease.
Krall’s upcoming performance will come just after finishing a 34-date tour. Drummer Peter Erskine, bassist Robert Hurst and guitarist Anthony Wilson backed her performances throughout the tour. The last show at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall on August 24 was a sold out affair that garnered accolades such as “simply smoking” (New York Daily News) from a variety of media.
Tickets for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation Fundraiser can be purchased via phone at 203-972-1250 or online at www.multiplemyeloma.org.
