Denson Dances With Blue Note

Former Greyboy Allstars saxophonist Karl Denson (pictured left) has inked a deal with Blue Note Records. His new album, Dance Lesson #2, will be released on May 8. The album features Denson on saxophone and flute, Chris Wood (of Medeski, Martin & Wood) on bass, guitarists Melvin Sparks and Charlie Hunter, organist Leon Spencer Jr., percussionist EJ Rodriguez, keyboardist Ron Levy, drummer Zak Najor, and DJ Logic on turntables.

Denson’s band, Tiny Universe, is currently on tour with shows scheduled in both the U.S. and Japan. The album and tour feature different musician lineups, but the touring band is playing music from Dance Lesson #2.

Other Denson discs due out this year (although not on Blue Note) are a live Tiny Universe album and a duet record with Wood.
