David Sánchez to Release New Album, ‘Cultural Survival’

Concord Records will release Cultural Survival, a new album from saxophonist David Sánchez, on May 20th. The album is his eighth overall and first for Concord Picante. The eight-song album features a piano-less quartet on all but three songs and includes guitarist Lage Lund, the winner of the Thelonious Monk Guitar Competition in 2005.

On the track “The Forgotten Ones,” Sánchez pays tribute to all those in turmoil in places such as New Orleans and Haiti. The track “Adoración” is, according to Sánchez, “a little tribute to a person who is very important in my musical development and who I always have to acknowledge, Eddie Palmieri.”

Sánchez has been nominated for four Grammy® Awards, and his last album, Coral, won the Latin Grammy for Best Instrumental Album in 2005. Sánchez will be touring throughout the U.S. in support of Cultural Survival. For more information and a complete listing of tour dates, visit DavidSanchezMusic.com.
