Dave Koz to Headline Sedona Fest

Sedona, Ariz.-based festival Sedona Jazz on the Rocks will celebrate its 23rd season with saxophonist Dave Koz (pictured), percussionist T.S. Monk, vocalist Vanessa Rubin and smooth-jazz supergroup Fattburger in a new location on the shady grounds of the Radisson Poco Diablo Resort (1752 South Highway 179).

The four-day festival runs from Sept. 23-26 at various Sedona venues. The highlight of the weekend is the all-day concert on Sept. 25 set in a lush, park-like area with rich grass, small ponds and many shade trees at the Radisson Poco Diablo. Music begins at 10 a.m. with the Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Youth Jazz Band and ends with Dave Koz’s performance at 4 p.m.

The festival performances actually start the evening of Sept. 23 at a private residence where vocalist Janiece Jaffe and the Youth Jazz Band perform a private concert. Tickets are $100 each and must be purchased in advance, as space is very limited. The evening includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and the private performance.

On Friday, Sept. 24, flute virtuoso Walter Bell and the Latin Jazz Unit, his all-star ensemble, pay tribute to the late flutist Herbie Mann in the 250-seat Sedona Creative Life Center, at 333 Schnebly Hill Road, at 7 and 9 p.m. Tickets are $40 each in advance and $50 at the door.

Advance-sale tickets for the Sept. 25 performances are $60 for lawn seating, $80 for reserved chair seating and $220 for the patron tent. Tickets bought on-site are $10 more. Patron tent tickets must be purchased in advance. On-stage seating for any of the concerts is an additional $50 and event tickets are required.

On Sept. 26, singer Cab Calloway’s daughter, Chris Calloway, performs at 10 a.m. at the Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Brunch at the Hilton Sedona Resort and Spa, 90 Ridge Trail Dr. Tickets for the brunch and concert are $80.

Discount weekend packages are available ranging from $160 to $320. Complete information is available at www.sedonajazz.com/ticketsales.php. Tickets can be purchased online, by calling the Sedona Jazz on the Rocks office at (928) 282-1985, or at the individual concerts, if tickets are still available.
