It looks to be a monster year for the man Stanley Crouch loves to tool on. In addition to turning 40, trumpeter Dave Douglas will celebrate the release of his fantastic new CD, Freak In (RCA/Bluebird), and embark on a big tour with his electrified septet to support the jazztronica-fueled disc. February 18 is when Freak In hits the stores, and the next day Douglas and his septet-featuring tenor saxophonist Seamus Blake, guitarist David Gilmore, keyboardist Jamie Saft, turntablist DJ Olive, bassist Brad Jones and drummer Derrek Phillips-start out on their two-month trek, which travels as follows:
