The dates of the fourth Rochester International Jazz Festival (RIJF) have been set: the festival is scheduled to be held in Rochester, N.Y. from June 10 through 18. “The fourth Rochester International Jazz Festival will host unique musical talent from around the world at 100-plus concerts in venues in and around Rochester,” said founder and Artistic Director and Producer John Nugent in a press release.
“We will feature headliner shows at the Eastman Theatre, free concerts showcasing Eastman School of Music faculty and students, and a wide array of club performances. And once again, we will transform Gibbs Street into ‘Jazz Street,’ a popular pedestrian walkway and stage with live music, food and drink,” Nugent continued.
Attendance at the RIJF has grown each year, with the 2004 festival attracting more than 55,000 music fans from across the United States and around the world. “We are proud that RIJF has become one of the finest and fastest growing jazz and contemporary music events in the U.S.,” Nugent said.
The artist lineup for this year’s festival will be announced in April. Last year’s headliners included Oscar Peterson, Jean Luc-Ponty, Stanley Clarke and Bobby McFerrin.
Club Passes for the festival go on sale Dec. 3 through Jan. 2 for $59; after Jan. 2, the passes are available for $69. Single ticket entries are available at the door for $15. More information is available at www.rochesterjazz.com.
