Unlike Madeleine Peyroux, who made us wait eight years for a follow-up to her fabulous debut album, the indefatigable Jamie Cullum is releasing his third album just a year after he knocked down musical boundaries and garnered praise from just about every media outlet possible with his 2003 release, Twentysomething.
Verve Forecast will release Catching Tales in the United States on Oct. 11, the result of three months of recording in London and Los Angeles earlier this year.
The album’s lead track is a “backbeat-driven” collaboration with Dan the Automator (of Gorillaz and Handsome Boy Modeling School fame) called “Get Your Way,” and the rest of the album contains songs including “London Skies,” “Mind Trick” and “Photograph.” While primarily consisting of original tunes, Cullum also includes standards “I Only Have Eyes for You” and “Our Day Will Come.”
Cullum is touring Europe until November and will be returning to this side of the pond in the coming months.
