“Complementary Visions: The Jazz Photographs of Ken Franckling and McDonald Wright,” an exhibit that honors the visual images of two Rhode Island-based photographers, will be showcased at The Jazz Gallery in New York’s SoHo district from July 9 to Sept. 11.
The exhibit will include black and white and color shots by Franckling that capture artists like Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Wynton Marsalis, Dave Brubeck, Cassandra Wilson, Sarah Vaughan and Victor Lewis as well as photos by Wright that use multiple imaging to create abstract, artistic impressions of artists such as Slide Hampton, Geri Allen, Ahmad Jamal, John Scofield and Gato Barbieri.
The exhibit will be on display, and the photos will be for sale, at The Jazz Gallery located at 290 Hudson Street. The gallery is open for live music performances on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 8:30 p.m. to midnight.
