Christian McBride Returns to the Village Vanguard

Bassist, composer, funnyman and all-around all-star Christian McBride is having a busy year. After joining up with Jack DeJohnette and Bruce Hornsby, playing as part of the Pat Metheny Trio, and getting his groove-tastic Philadelphia Experiment band booked at Bonnaroo, the bassist will return to the Village Vanguard June 26 through July 1 with his new swinging project, A Christian McBride Situation. The group features pianist Eric Reed, saxist Steve Wilson, vibist Warren Wolf and drummer Carl Allen. The performances mark McBride’s first appearance at the hallowed jazz club in over 10 years.

“It means the world to me to play the most storied club in the history of jazz,” McBride said in a press release. For those wanting to see McBride grab the upright and tear through some changes, visit the Vanguard’s official Web site to snag tickets.
