Chris Potter Finishes New Album for Verve

Acclaimed saxophonist Chris Potter recently finished recording Gratitude, his debut album for Verve Records. The album, slated for an April 3 release, is comprised of 12 original compositions that pay tribute to the legends of the saxophone. On the album Potter plays tenor, alto, and soprano sax, as well as bass clarinet and Chinese wood flute. Potter’s most recent album as a leader, Vertigo, was released by Concord in 1998. He also performed on Steely Dan’s Two Against Nature, the winner of the Grammy for album of the year.
