Charles Williams and Tom Teasley: Poetry, Prose, Percussion and Song

This dramatic CD combines the multi-percussion talents of Tom Teasley with the sonorous, wonderfully expressive voice of Charles Williams on material ranging from traditional West African and Israeli to Haiku. Two of the more evocative pieces juxtapose Langston Hughes’ “I Dream a World” with Horace Silver’s “Peace” and Ludwik Askenazy’s “The Cry” with Thad Jones’ “A Child Is Born.” “Dancer” again features the poetry of Hughes (as do two other cuts) with bop interpolation.
